With job application responses, be careful what you wish for

by Brad Brighton, Geek-in-Residence,  February 14, 2005 (You can get the first feedback post!)

Ok, so carrying on the theme from last week's Thought of the Week... I actually received a response to one of my job applications today. Mind you, the job posted was for a "Junior and Senior Programmer". And, well, I have that in spades. And programming management as well. For a really large company. And I have 15 years of a variety of formal experience, 24 years informally. Anyway...

What do I get for a response? (paraphrased form letter) "Thank you for your response. Those positions have been filled. Would you be interested in a seasonal, part-time data entry job?"

Feh. I guess I should be happy I got a response, but for some reason, I'm not.
